Chandigarh: In another incident of theft from a car parked near Sukhna Lake, a purse and a bag containing a laptop and other valuables were stolen from a car after smashing its windowpane near the stairs (No. 1) on Monday.



Chandigarh:  In another incident of theft from a car parked near Sukhna Lake, a purse and a bag containing a laptop and other valuables were stolen from a car after smashing its windowpane near the stairs (No. 1) on Monday. According to the police, the complainant, Navjot Singh, a resident of Sector 66, Mohali, reported that he, along with his wife, went for a walk at the lake after parking his car. On returning after 30 minutes, the complainant found one of the windowpanes of his car broken and the bag and the purse stolen.  The police said the bag contained a laptop, a charger and a headphone, while the purse contained Rs 2,500, an iPhone, credit and debit cards, a headphone and other valuables. The police were informed about the incident after which a case of theft was registered at the Sector 3 police station. This is the second theft incident reported from a car parked near Sukhna Lake. On June 16, a bag containing valuables was stolen from a car. TNS

31-year-old electrocuted

Dera Bassi: A 31-year-old man was electrocuted here on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Vivek Rajput, a resident of Ramgarh village in Panchkula district, received an electric shock while repairing a bulb in a company where he works as an electrician. The vicitm’s colleague took him to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where doctors declared him brought dead. The police have initiated inquest proceedings in the matter on a statement of the deceased’s uncle at the Dera Bassi police station. OC

3 booked for woman’s suicide

Chandigarh: Two days after a 30-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide, the UT police registered a case against her husband and two other family members. Victim Roma Chawla (30) was found hanging at her house in Modern Housing Complex (MHC), Mani Majra, on June 17. Her husband Sukhant was sleeping in the same room. In the morning, he found that the victim was hanging from the grill of a ventilator. The police was informed about the incident and the victim was shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. 

Victim’s father Raghbir Dahiya, a resident of Panchkula, complained against Sukhant, Anil Kumar and Ekant Chawla were harassed his daughter following which she took the extreme step.  A case under Sections 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
