Chandigarh, January 19

In a case of road rage, a cab driver allegedly hit an auto driver with a baseball bat after getting infuriated on the issue of overtaking in the Industrial Area, Phase I.

The incident was reported on the stretch between the Centra Mall light point and the Colony No. 4 light point.

Police sources said both the carriage auto and the cab were heading towards the Colony No. 4 light point when the drivers had an issue regarding overtaking. Both drivers passed some remarks at each other and stopped on the road.

An eyewitness said the drivers entered into heated arguments following which the cab driver pulled out a baseball bat from the car and hit the victim, Manu, on the right side of his head, leaving him profusely bleeding.

Passersby gathered at the spot and one of them informed the police. However, for almost 15 minutes, nobody arrived at the spot.
