ROPAR: The Riders for Awareness & Welfare Club started awareness campaign against noise pollution with the help of the traffic police and the Pollution Control Board, here today.

The Riders for Awareness & Welfare Club started awareness campaign against noise pollution with the help of the traffic police and the Pollution Control Board, here today.

President of the club Akashdeep Gautam said noise pollution caused discomfort and harm to human beings, both physically and mentally. According to a research, even animals suffered from excessive noises made by vehicles.

Pollution Control Board SDO Gulshan Kumar said it was social responsibility of all towards the humanity to protect environment from pollution. He said under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and Air Pollution (Prevention and Control) Act 1981, apart from challan and fine, there was provision of imprisonment up to six years to the offender.
