Chandigarh, February 21

Two motorcyclists sustained serious injuries in a road mishap in Sector 51 here on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Malak Singh and Jovanpreet, residents of Mohali, were on their way to Chandigarh when a car hit their bike. As they both fell on the road, another car ran over Jovanpreet’s leg. The driver of the second car sped away. The duo was rushed to the GMCH-32. In his complaint to the police, Malak alleged that a car hit their motorcycle near the taxi stand on the Burail Jail road in Sector 51.

The police said the driver of the car that hit the motorcycle had been identified as Deepak. “It is claimed that the car that ran over one of the bikers’ leg was being driven by some woman. We have the registration number of the car. The driver will be traced soon,” said Inspector Jaswinder Kaur, SHO, Sector 49 police station.  A case has been registered against Deepak and the unknown driver of the other car. — TNS
