Chandigarh, December 16
Two persons were arrested after a PGI employee alleged that they threatened him with a .32-bore pistol in the B Block parking of the hospital. Complainant Satpreet, a Derabassi resident, who works at the parking lot, told the police that a resident of Jind in Haryana, Jitender, and Harsimrat, from Fatehgarh Sahib, threatened him with a pistol as they could not find their car which was parked outside the parking lot.
The suspects are relatives and had come to visit another of their relative admitted to the PGI. They could not find space in the parking lot, thus parked their vehicle outside it. When they returned, they found their car missing. This led to an argument with the parking staff. The duo allegedly threatened Satpreet with a pistol.
The police arrested both suspects and registered a case under Section 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act against them at the Sector 11 police station. They had permission for carrying their weapon in Haryana, but not in Chandigarh.
