Chandigarh, November 22

A public information kiosk was today inaugurated by Permod Kohli, chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Chandigarh Bench, here today.

Just with the touch of a button, advocates, litigants and general public will get to know about the status of cases, daily orders and judgement at the kiosk. Justice MS Sullar, Head of the Department of CAT, Chandigarh Bench, was also present on the occasion.

Justice Kohli announced Rs 25,000 for the BAR library at CAT and said, “Chandigarh is the only tribunal in the country that has no pendency of old cases as each case filed before January 1, 2016, has been disposed off.”

He appreciated the efforts of the tribunal and said it was possible because the Chandigarh BAR was very cooperative.

Justice Sullar claimed that it was the first and only court in the country to do so. He said, “About 180 cases of 2016 are pending in both courts and they too will be disposed off before the end of this financial year.”

In 2017 alone, about 3,260 cases, including 1,440 OAs, instituted during this year have already been disposed off by the tribunal.
