CAT results: City girl Bhavya is tricity topper

City girl, Bhavya Bansal, a final year computer science engineer from the UIET, Chandigarh, emerged as the tricity topper of the common admission test (CAT) with the highest percentile of 99.91.

During the preparation she said her focus was on practicing mock tests and analysing her mistakes. When asked about her plans, she said that she wanted to make it to one of the IIMs and pursue a career in HR.

The results were declared late in the evening. Since many students were trying to access the website, it slowed down. It took long to find out the results. CAT is the main exam to get admission to top MBA colleges, including IIMs. Till the filing of the report, the tricity topper was Bhavya Bansal.

Another student, Lakshya Mittal, who is currently pursuing his engineering from the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh, has secured 98.89 percentile in CAT. Sharing his experience he said that he hoped to get admission in one of the IIMs.

When contacted, Hirdesh Madan, Bulls Eye director in Chandigarh, said the city had emerged as a hub for MBA entrance exams and this year again the tricity students had put up a good show. “We are still compiling results and we are expecting more students with good percentiles”, he said. 

The CAT entrance exam is not only the gateway for entry into 13 IIMs, but more than 100 colleges across the country that accept CAT score. Currently, there are 13 IIMs in the country. Another six IIMs are on the horizon with two of them in the north, one in Punjab and the other in Himachal Pradesh. 

More than 1.7 lakh students appeared in the exam from all across the country and approximately 8,000 students appeared from the region. The exam was conducted in four different time slots on November 16 and 22, 2014.
