Chandigarh, February 21

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has stayed the order of the PGI reverting 11 office superintendents to a lower post.

The applicants had sought quashing of the order, issued on February 13, reverting them to a lower post from the rank of superintendent. All of them had joined as clerks in the PGI between 1986 and 1995.

Their counsel stated that the applicants were promoted to the post of office superintendent on April 20, 2015. However, now they had been abruptly reverted to their earlier post without assigning any cogent reason and in the garb of a second evaluation of an internal written examination. Ten applicants were even declared successful in the re-evaluation, but still they were reverted. The CAT, while staying the order, adjourned the matter to March 3 for filing of a reply by the respondents.
