CBI to grill another HCS officer today

Chandigarh, August 7

Virender Chaudhary, an HCS officer who was on deputation in Chandigarh and was recently repatriated to Haryana, was today summoned for questioning by the CBI after his name cropped up in the graft case. The officer, however, could not appear before the CBI today and has been summoned again tomorrow.

Virender Chaudhary was posted as the MC Joint Commissioner, Assistant Estate Officer and the STA secretary.

On August 5, the CBI had arrested Shilpi Pattar, an HCS officer, her husband Dheeraj Dutt and a middleman GS Brar in a graft case. 

The CBI had caught Brar and the SDM while taking Rs 75,000 as the first instalment of a bribe. The SDM’s husband was also arrested as Rs 50,000 of the bribe money was recovered from him while Rs 25,000 was recovered from Brar. The investigation revealed that the middleman came in contact with the SDM through Chaudhary. 

Chaudhary will be questioned tomorrow at the CBI office in Sector 30. — TNS
