Chandigarh gain three points against Hoshiarpur in cricket

CHANDIGARH:Chandigarh gained three points against Hoshiarpur after their match ended in a draw due to wet outfield in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District U-23 Cricket Championship at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, on Monday.

Chandigarh gained three points against Hoshiarpur after their match ended in a draw due to wet outfield in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District U-23 Cricket Championship at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, on Monday. 

Resuming at 129/3, Chandigarh went on to score 208/8 before declaring their innings in 63.1 overs. Arjit Singh Pannu and Bhadminder Singh Lather started the day’s innings and added 50 runs for the fourth wicket. The partnership was broken by Asish Ghai, when he claimed Pannu on his individual scored of 74 off 162 balls including eight boundaries. Lather soon followed suit after getting cleaned up by Kulvir Singh on 34 off 49 balls including three boundaries. 

Arpit Singh Pannu and Pardeep Yadav tried to revive the innings but Karan Chawla found Arpit (7) short of crease on team’s total of 184. Kulvir claimed Raman Bishnoi before the batsman could open his account. Thereafter, Karan Azad and Yadav added 24 runs for the 8th wicket to push the total to 208. Yadav (15) was cleaned up by Chawla. Chandigarh declared their innings on 208/8. 

Kulvir Singh (3/64) was the pick of the bowlers while Chawla (2/39), Ghai (1/24) and Amit Singh (1/23) were also successful. 

In their second innings, Hoshiarpur were 92/8 in 29.2 overs when the play was stopped due heavy rains. Shish Ghai (34) and Arjun Kumar (18) were the main scorers for the side. 

For Chandigarh, Arpit Pannu (3/34), Anirudh (2/40), Bhagminder Lather (2/1) and Jagjit Singh (1/16) claimed wickets.
