Chandigarh in junior national semifinals

CHANDIGARH:Chandigarh boys came from behind to hold Maharashtra to a 2-2 draw and earn a place in the semifinals in the ongoing Dr BC Roy Junior National Football Championship in Una today.

Chandigarh boys came from behind to hold Maharashtra to a 2-2 draw and earn a place in the semifinals in the ongoing Dr BC Roy Junior National Football Championship in Una today.

Abel Fernandes scored from the spot to put Maharashtra ahead in the 40th after a Chandigarh defender handed the ball in the penalty area. Chandigarh leveled the scores through Muhammad Ajaruddin Shah in the 59th minute, but were once again left to do the chasing after Maharashtra doubled their tally in the 66th minute. 

Chandigarh kept their spirits high and finally drew level  in the injury time through Luntinmang Haokip. The side will face J&K in the semifinals on Sunday.  In the other semifinal, Jharkhand will face Arunachal Pradesh. — TNS
