Chandigarh, May 28

In yet another relief to CHB allottees, the board authorities have directed the Chandigarh Police to halt further investigations in all cases registered in the past over two years for filing false affidavits regarding misuse and building violations in their dwelling units.

In the past two years, the CHB had lodged many complaints with the police regarding furnishing of false affidavits by allottees while applying for the transfer of ownership of their dwelling units.

“Since the issue of building violations/misuse has now been delinked from the process of transfer of dwelling units of the CHB, taking a lenient view in the whole matter, and to encourage the allottees not to furnish false affidavits in the future, the CHB is giving aone-time exoneration / reprieve to all such allottees who have furnished false affidavits,” said a CHB official.

“The CHB directs all its allottees to remove building violations (especially those which have “critical ramification” of structural safety, considering that Chandigarh falls in the earthquake-prone seismic IV zone), and hereafter at the time of submission of affidavits, furnish affidavits having correct information only, failing which strict action will be prescribed against all allottees indulging in building violations/misuse and filing of false affidavits,” the board has stated.
