Unidentified miscreants vandalised eight vehicles, including one each of city Congress chief Pardeep Chhabra and Congress candidate for the MC poll Deipa Asdhir Dubey. Bricks and paver blocks were used to break the windscreens of all vehicles parked outside houses in Sectors 15, 21 and 22.

The rear windscreen of an Innova vehicle owned by Chhabra was smashed with a brick outside his house in Sector 22. Chhabra’s wife is contesting the MC elections from Ward No. 3.

Similarly, the rear windscreen of another Innova, owned by Rashpal Singh, which was parked around 50 metres ahead, was also smashed. The accused also damaged the windscreen of a Fortuner and an i20 car parked on the same street.

The rear windscreens of a Honda City and a Hyundai Verna parked in Sector 21 were also smashed.

The rear windscreen of a Ford Fiesta car of Deipa Asdhir Dubey was also damaged. Dubey is contesting the MC elections from Ward No 2.

Dubey said Gurparkash Singh, who owns the Honda City that was damaged, told him that he had gone for work and on returning in the morning, he found the wind screen of his car broken.

Chhabra claimed that the vehicles of Congress leaders and people associated with it had been vandalised in Sector 22.

“The incident seems to be a fallout of political rivalry,” he said.

Rashpal Singh, one of those whose vehicle was damaged, however, claimed that he was not associated with the  Congress. The police were informed about the incident.
