CHANDIGARH: The heat wave further intensified in the city on Tuesday with the mercury rising to 43°C. In 2013, the city had witnessed 43.8°C in May. On the other hand, the observatory at the airport recorded a temperature of 43.8°C on Tuesday, which is equal to the May 2013 temperature.

The heat wave further intensified in the city on Tuesday with the mercury rising to 43°C. In 2013, the city had witnessed 43.8°C in May. On the other hand, the observatory at the airport recorded a temperature of 43.8°C on Tuesday, which is equal to the May 2013 temperature.

According to the Met Department, the heat wave is not over yet. Surinder Paul, Director, Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, said the mercury would rise in the next three days. “The temperature will rise by one or two degrees in the next three days,” said Paul. He advised people to stay indoors from noon to 3 pm when the heat wave is at its peak.

City hospitals receive heatstroke cases

Patients with heatstroke complaints have begun arriving at hospitals and government dispensaries.

On Tuesday, a middle-aged man fainted due to heatstroke at a fuel station in Sector 15.

People called up the PCR after which the police rushed the man to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.

The condition of the man is stated to be stable.Patients, especially women and children, kept arriving at the emergency of the hospital. A majority of them complained of giddiness and headache.
