City taekwondo association returns with 19 gold medals

CHANDIGARH:Athletes associated with the Sports Taekwondo Association Chandigarh bagged a rich haul of 45 medals, including 19 gold, during the recently concluded inter-school taekwondo championship at Ryan International School, Sector 49, the sports body claimed here today.

Athletes associated with the Sports Taekwondo Association Chandigarh bagged a rich haul of 45 medals, including 19 gold, during the recently concluded inter-school taekwondo championship at Ryan International School, Sector 49, the sports body claimed here today.   

Three affiliate units of the association — Black Dragon International Martial Arts Academy, Velocitian Warriors and Deafens Club — shared 45 medals between them during the inter-school championship held from August 29 to September 8.

Manita, Pooja, Nisha Yadav, Kalpna, Arshita, Akshita, Abhishek Singh, Sidharth Sonkar, Jitesh Yadav, Deepak Yadav, Sarwan and Karnveer clinched gold medals in various weight categories while competing in the U-14 age group, said the association.

In the U-17 age group, Kiran Rawat, Karishma, Pranjal Kaushal, Ankit, Yograj, Puran and Satish won gold medals, while Komal Yadav, Charanpreet Kaur, Simar Gulati, Anupam, Kartik, Pranav Sain, Ranjeet, Gurjeet, Divyan Aggarwal and Aryan Dham bagged silver medals.         

Jeeshan, Souvik Mehra, Anant Khosla and Bhawna Rana finished with a bronze each.  

Meanwhile, in the U-17 category, Pragya Rana, Kunal, Gaurav, Ansh Pannu and Pranav won a silver medal apiece, while Annu Sharma, Anshika Pannu, Radhika, Rohan, Savej and Divyanshu returned with bronze medals.
