Class VIII student ‘raped’ by juvenile

CHANDIGARH: A juvenile has been booked for allegedly raping a minor girl. Sources said the victim, a student of Class VIII, was about to jump into Sukhna Lake on Saturday evening when an alert visitor raised the alarm and caught her before she could take the extreme step.

A juvenile has been booked for allegedly raping a minor girl. Sources said the victim, a student of Class VIII, was about to jump into Sukhna Lake on Saturday evening when an alert visitor raised the alarm and caught her before she could take the extreme step. 

The visitor immediately informed the police. Cops arrived at the spot and informed the girl’s parents, who also reached there. 

On questioning, the victim revealed that she was raped by a boy known to her and he threatened her not to disclose this to anyone. 

On a complaint by the victim’s family, a case of rape and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against the minor boy at the Sector 26 police station.
