Class XI girl ends her life

CHANDIGARH: A 17-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Sector 20 today.

A 17-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Sector 20 today. The victim was a Class XI student at a private school in Sector 21.

Sources said the victim, Anshu, decided to take leave from school and stay at home.

The victim then went to her room and bolted the door from inside. Her father, who works at the Employment Exchange, Panchkula, left for the office.

The sources said around 9 am, the victim’s mother went to the room and found it bolted. Despite repeated knocks when the victim did not open the door, her mother peeped inside through a window and found her daughter hanging.

The police were informed about the incident who visited the spot. The police said no suicide note was found from the spot. The police said they were trying to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.

The victim’s autopsy was conducted after which the body was handed over to her kin. Inquest proceedings have been initiated in the matter.
