Thirty students of Chitkara International School, Sector 25, had a narrow escape when a school bus overturned in front of a gurdwara in Sector 38 this morning. A student and the bus driver received minor injuries in the accident.
The incident took place around 8 am when the bus was ferrying students to the school. Sources said the mishap took place when the bus driver, Prince, tried to save a car that suddenly came in front of the bus.
Kulwinder Kaur, woman attendant on the bus, claimed that the car was the cause of the mishap. “As the bus driver tried to save the car, a tyre hit the divider following which it overturned on the right side,” she said.
The sources said all students were safely rescued from the bus. One of the students suffered a minor injury on a finger.
While 25 students were picked up by another school bus coming from the same route, four students went back home. The bus driver also received a minor injury in the accident.
A case has been registered against the bus driver at the Maloya police station.
