Commonwealth Day celebrated

Patiala: With the theme of peace-building and promoting respect to the rich diversity of 53 nations that were under the British rule, DAV Public School, Patiala, celebrated Commonwealth Day.



Patiala: With the theme of peace-building and promoting respect to the rich diversity of 53 nations that were under the British rule, DAV Public School, Patiala, celebrated Commonwealth Day. An innovative collage-making activity was organised for students of various sections of Class IX during which 90 students exhibited their creative talent by pasting pictures of different flags. Officiating principal Neera Khurana applauded and appreciated the efforts of students and their mentors of the Social Science Department. A PPT was also shown to students from Classes VI to X under the guidance of Manpreet Kaur. This presentation was an innovative effort to foster the global horizon about the nations, including Commonwealth, among the students.

Mother’s Day

To celebrate Mother’s Day, a special programme was organised by St Xavier’s International School, Patiala, at Harpal Tiwana Memorial Hall here. Tiny tots presented a lovely show dedicated to their mothers encompassing skits, dances and rhymes to showcase love for their mothers. Drama ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Goldi Locks’ was the highlights of the programme. A ramp walk, along with a number of games, was organised for mothers. Principal Manjeet Waraich and Director Gurpreet Kaur Dhaliwal thanked mothers for attending the function and making it a grand success.

Dental camp

A team of doctors from Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Patiala, conducted a free dental check-up camp at Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala. A team of 9 doctors, with their mobile dental check-up van, screened as many as 170 students of the school. Principal Tripatjit Kaur appreciated the noble work done by Dr Ashutosh Nirola, Principal, Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Patiala, and his team.

Annual training camp

As many as 36 students from Budha Dal Public School, Patiala, attended NCC annual training camp at NCC Academy, Rupnagar. Students were involved in different NCC activities, including drill practice, weapon training and map-reading classes. Several competitive games were planned for cadets. Anureet Kaur of Class X of the Army Wing bagged the Best Cadet Award, while Mini of Class IX won the first prize in the quiz competition. Uday and Humit Singh of Class X were declared best in firing. It was a great learning experience for the cadets. OC
