4 beggars sent to children home

Fatehgarh Sahib, April 26

As many as four children found begging outside Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib were taken into custody by the Child Protection Department team here today. Three male children were sent to Children Home Patiala, while the girl beggar was sent to Puran Bal Niketan Patiala.

District Child Protection Officer Harbhajan Singh Mehmi said the team consisting of social workers and other officers had been regularly checking the menace of child labour and child begging in the district.

He said all four children were warned earlier and their parents were also called and were let off after a warning. But they continued to beg , he said.  TNS
