Out of 18 councillors, whose names were approved by MC Commissioner B Purushartha for three-day training under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme at Hyderabad, six have opted out of the progamme.

Among those who have declined to go on the tour are SAD councillors Harjinder Kaur and Hardeep Singh, BJP councillors Davesh Moudgil, Rajinder Kaur Rattu and Satish Kainth and nominated councillor Shagufta Praveen.

In place of these councillors, nominated councilor Maj DS Sandhu’s name has been included in the delegation leaving for Hyderabad.

Now, 13 councillors (BJP, nominated and Independent councillors) and Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer of Publlic Health Wing, MC, are going for the training programme.

Mayor Arun Sood said due to some family problems, these councillors were not able to go for the training. Sood added that the purpose behind the tour was to enhance the functional knowledge and improve work skills of councillors, officers and employees of the civic body. He said under the AMRUT scheme, the MC had signed an MoU with training entities MCR Human Resource Development Institute and the Engineering Staff College of India, Hyderabad. Various MC officials have already attended this training programme under the AMRUT scheme this year, he added.

The Congress had already decided against going on any study tour or training programme under the leadership of Mayor Arun Sood.
