The number of dengue cases in the tricity and surrounding areas today touched 2,182, while that of chikungunya reached 177.
A total of 80 fresh cases of dengue were reported from the tricity and surrounding areas today.
As many as 58 fresh
cases of dengue and three of chikungunya were reported from Mohali district, while Chandigarh reported 17 fresh cases of dengue and 4 of chikungunya. Panchkula reported five fresh cases of dengue.
Meanwhile, health officials said in order to further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation was being carried out along with strengthening of field activities, which include mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.
