A mobile phone repair shop at Haripur village in Sector 4 here caught fire at around 2:30 am today. A fire tender reached the spot and controlled the fire. The owner of the shop, ‘Jatin Communications, has claimed loss of around Rs 3 lakh.

The shop owner, Jatin, who was staying above the shop, said: “I noticed smoke billowing from the shop at around 2:30 am and rushed to the spot. I first tried to douse the flames on my own and then decided to call the fire personnel.”

He said a photostat machine, new mobile phones, some old phones that have to be repaired and mobile phone accessories were damaged in the fire.

Though the cause behind the fire is not yet clear, fire station officer RD Bhardwaj said a short circuit could be the reason.
