After receiving a good response during its signature campaigns held against the decision of the BJP Government to stop distribution of food ration under the public distribution system in the city, the Chandigarh Congress has decided to start an agitation if the Administration fails to reverse the decision.

Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, during a press conference today said signing of 41,000 cards holders against the decision was a clear referendum against the decision. Bansal said that the BJP Government had killed the Food Security Act by taking the decision of giving only Rs 95 per member in a family and keeping them in the dark, he said.

Congress president Pardeep Chhabra said the Congress would seek an appointment with UT Administrator Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki and would apprise him regarding the feeling of the people and request him to withdraw the decision.

Chhabra said that if the Government would not reverse its decision by the first week

of the December then the party would start a stir on a large scale on the issue.
