Contest held to create awareness on water crisis

PATIALA:Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala, and Department of Forest and Wild Reservation celebrated World Water Day on its campus.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala, and Department of Forest and Wild Reservation celebrated World Water Day on its campus. On this occasion, an all-India inter-university competition, Expressions@RGNUL, was organised to generate awareness on water crisis. The event included essay writing, poetry recitation, sketch a word, debate, declamation, spellathon, elocution and extempore for undergraduates and postgraduates. The theme of the event was Environmental Pollution and Water Crisis.

The inaugural function was presided over by Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, Paramjit S Jaswal. In his address, Jaswal focused on the importance of saving water. Samarjeet Goyal, Senior Environmental Engineer, Punjab, Pollution Control Board, contemplated on the shift in agriculture methods that were essential to conserve water for sustainable development. Documentaries on the root cause of water crisis in India were also shown to students during the event.
