As many as 56 fresh cases of dengue and 23 of chikungunya were reported from the tricity and surrounding areas today. Mohali district reported 32 fresh cases of dengue, taking the district’s tally to 1,217. Chandigarh, meanwhile, recorded 15 fresh cases of dengue. The city’s total has gone up to 522. Panchkula reported nine fresh cases of dengue.
As for chikungunya, Mohali district today recorded 13 fresh cases, while only one was reported from Chandigarh and nine from Panchkula. Meanwhile, a special drive was conducted today at Mauli Jagran jointly by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and the Malaria Wing. The team was led by Dr PS Bhatti and Dr Gaurav Aggarwal. One more team was led by Assistant Director, Malaria, along with the state epidemiologist that conducted a drive at Sector 24. Under the drive, house-to-house visits were made. It was observed that major source of breeding is in-house containers and coolers along with garbage dumps in these areas. Hygiene has not been maintained at Mauli Jagran for which awareness was again created during the house-to-house visit.
