Now, residents of rehabilitation colony, Dhanas, will get better healthcare facilities in their neighbourhood.
The UT Health Department, in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad, started laboratory services at the rehabilitation colony, here today.
The laboratory services have been set up following a decision taken during a meeting of the National Health Mission chaired by Kirron Kher, MP, Chandigarh, on September 21.
In the meeting, it was decided that NGOs must be involved to provide better health care service to the people of Chandigarh.
In the initial phase of the project, the Bharat Vikas Parishad has initiated laboratory testing at nominal rates for the inhabitants of the colony. An ECG machine has also been installed. This initiative has got a good response from the public and a large numbers of patients were tested today.
Next on agenda is to set up a well-equipped laboratory to facilitate the residents of Dhanas and lessen the burden on hospitals.
Notably, the residents of the colony had apprised Kher about the lack of healthcare services in Dhanas during a public darbar held earlier this month, following which the decision to set up the services was taken by
the MP.
