A resident of Ludhiana has been booked for cheating after two cheques for Rs 50 lakh each, which were issued by him, bounced here.
The police registered a case against Narinder Singh, on the complaint of his partner Shamsher Singh, a local resident, following directions from the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC).
Giving details, Inspector Manjit Singh, SHO, Mataur police station, said the accused and the complainant were running an infrastructure firm in partnership. “Following some dispute, they closed the firm. The accused gave two cheques to the complainant under some settlement,” said the SHO, adding that later, the cheques got bounced following which Shamsher Singh moved the local court.
On the directions of the court, a case under Section 420 of the IPC has been registered against the accused and investigations initiated.
