The Ghumphan Theatre presented a Hindi play, “Aawarey”, at Tagore Theatre today. Based on a story of Bhagwati Charan Verma, the play attempted to bring into focus issues like unemployment, corruption, political hypocrisy under the direction of Jagdish Tiwari, an alumnus of the Department of Indian Theatre, PU.

While all actors displayed stray brilliance, young Krishan Rathi, Vivek Sharma, Chaines Gill and Sabina Singh showed promise. So many fade outs affected the pace of the play, which however gathered momentum at the fag end when the characters realised and analysed the failure of the system in addressing their problems.
