The Mohali police is reported to have obtained CCTV footage from a house in Phase III B1 here, located close to the first-floor accommodation in which Ekam Singh Dhillon was allegedly murdered.

Sources said today that the CCTV footage allegedly showed some woman rolling a bag down the stairs and later cleaning the stairs. On the day the body was found, the police had failed to get any CCTV footage as the cameras installed by Ekam’s landlord on his premises and at another house opposite this building were allegedly non-functional.

On being asked about such footage, SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal did not categorically deny such a seizure. He declined to reveal the contents of the footage, if any, on the plea that investigations in this regard were in progress.

When questioned whether any role of Nimardeep Singh, an alleged close friend of Seerat, wife of the deceased, had surfaced during the investigations, the SSP said that Nimardeep had been made to join the investigations. However, matters would become more clear after the arrest of Seerat’s brother, Vinay Partap Singh, and his friend, Jagat Singh.

On being asked whether the pistol recovered by the police from Ekam’s first-floor accommodation was actually the one used in the crime, the SSP said the weapon was of .30 bore and the bullet recovered was of the same calibre.Jaspal Singh Dhillon, father of Ekam Singh, said today that he was not sure whether the weapon recovered by the police was actually used in the alleged murder of his son.
