Union Health Minister JP Nadda awarded the PGI for being amongst the best three hospitals in India at an event organised to celebrate the 7th Indian Organ Donation Day by National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) in New Delhi today.
Among those who graced the occasion included Faggan Singh Kulaste, Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), and Anupriya Patel, Minister of State MOHFW, as special guests of honour and Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda as the guest of honour.
Adding to the accolades was another milestone as Rajinder Kaur, Transplant Coordinator in the PGI, was felicitated for being amongst the best three transplant coordinators by the Minister.
However, the most emotional moment of the event came when Tilak Raj, father of Sourav Duvedi, along with other family members, was felicitated for their magnanimous and brave-heart decision to donate the organs of their deceased son and got a standing ovation from the audience for their gesture.
Sourav had met with a fatal accident and on April 28, 2016 after being declared brain dead, his parents consented for organ donation that helped save five lives.
