The 62nd Railway Week Function was celebrated at the DMW Auditorium of Diesel Loco Modernisation Works, Patiala, production unit of the Indian Railways. SK Luthra, Chief Administrative Officer, DMW, was the chief guest on the occasion.
This year's function assumes special significance in view of the performance of the DMW. The DMW manufactured 11 New WDG3A Non-Customer Railways (NCR), 114 rebuilt locos, including 6WDP1 loco which were remanufactured the first time, 81 new WDM3D locos, eight new WDS6 locos, 60 rebuilt locomotives and achieved the turnover of Rs 1,805 crore in 2016-17, which is 18 per cent more than last year.
During his address, Luthra encouraged officers and staff to work with enhanced zeal and enthusiasm and keep up the momentum of excellent performance. In recognition of excellent performance, 253 individual and group awards were distributed and five shields and cash awards were presented. The function was attended by DMW officers, staff and their families.
