Replacement of sewer pipeline begins in Mohali

Mohali Mayor Kulwant Singh today launched the project of replacing old sewerage pipeline from Phase V to the Airport Road, here today.

“With the replacement of the pipeline, the problem of choking of sewerage pipes in the area will be redressed”, said Kulwant Singh.

Nearly Rs 1 crore will be spent on the project under which the 1,400 metre old sewerage pipeline will be replaced with 24 inches diameter pipeline.

“After the completion of the project, the choking problem of sewerage in Phase V and the other nearby areas will be solved. After that we willoverhaul the entire sewerage system, which is more than 40 years old and is incapable to bear the load of today’s population”, said the Mayor.

It is to be noted that the Mohali Municipal Corporation has sent the proposal of Rs 168 crore in this regard to the government after approving it in the MC House meeting.

“We are hopeful of getting the sanction for it soon”, said Kulwant Singh.
