Over 100 morning walkers of the city gathered at the Polo Ground for a special lecture on prevention and treatment of hypertension organised by the Indian Medical Association, Patiala, and Polo Ground Friends Club.
Dr Sudhir Verma, senior city cardiologist, as the expert speaker delivered the special talk. He discussed history and different parameters for fixing the normal blood pressure as 140 / 90. He said salt intake was not the only factor responsible for high blood pressure but there were a number of other factors also and it was very important to check the blood pressure regularly.
He stressed for best possible drug combinations suiting the bodily needs of individual patients with minimum side effects on the target organs for treating hypertension. — TNS
