Chandigarh, February 17

The 45th Rose Festival started here at the Rose Garden amid pomp and show. The three-day festival was inaugurated by MP Kirron Kher, in the presence of UT Adviser Parimal Rai, Mayor Asha Jaswal and others. 

The Tribune is the media partner of the Rose Festival, jointly organised by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and the UT Tourism Department. 

While addressing the gathering, MP Kirron Kher appreciated the efforts made by all MC employees and officers to make the event a grand success. She said people from all walks of life could enjoy here with provisions and competitions for all age groups. Events such as Rose Prince and Princess, Mr. Rose and Ms. Rose, and Rose King and Rose Queen for senior citizens are to be held here.

This year, the festival is showcasing 829 varieties of roses with 1,438 flower beds and 47,000 plants over 46 acres.
