Rose Festival to focus on national integration

Chandigarh, February 18

The theme of the 43rd edition of Rose Festival will be ‘National integration’.

This information was given by MC Commissioner Vivek Partap Singh during a press conference here today.

The commissioner said, “As many as 829 varieties of roses, including Hybrid Teas, Floribunda, Polyanthus, Miniatures and Climbers will be displayed. Folk dance teams from different states, arranged by the North Zone Cultural Centre, will participate during Rose Festival from February 20 to 22.”

Mayor Poonam Sharma said, “This time, a special feature will be a classical musical performance by the musical group “Divine Eyes” from the National Association for the Blind, Chandigarh, on February 21. Besides, a puppet show and magic show will also be organised during the three-day event.”

A wide array of flowers will be displayed, said the Mayor.

A competition of neighbourhood parks maintained by the Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) in the city has also been included this year, said MC Joint Commissioner Rajiv Gupta.

The UT Tourism Department has also planned a number of activities at the Leisure Valley, Sector 10.

The events include a fashion show on February 20, Bollywood night by singer Babul Supriyo and Punjabi Musical night by singer Sherry Maan.
