Short film on blood donation released

PATIALA:A short film, “Vein to Vein , The Journey of Blood”, produced by the Department of Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank), Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital Patiala, was released by Dr Rakesh Arora, President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Patiala, during the CME on rational use of blood held at Patiala.

A short film, “Vein to Vein , The Journey of Blood”, produced by the Department of Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank), Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital Patiala, was released by Dr Rakesh Arora, President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Patiala, during the CME on rational use of blood held at Patiala.

Dr Kanchan Bhardwaj, Prof and Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine, said “For the first time, this kind of film was produced by our department. In the film, we have highlighted the whole process of blood taken from blood donors in a simplified way i.e. from the vein of donor to the vein of patient.”

She said this film, which was directed by Dr Kulpinder Sharma, not only motivate the general masses regarding voluntary blood donation, but also useful for the clinicians. She said there was a long-standing demand from our various blood donation organisations that the department should prepare a film which could provide the information regarding various steps involved to provide the safest blood to the patients.
