CHANDIGARH: A couple has been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for stealing two diamond rings from a jewellery store in Sector 22.

A couple has been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for stealing two diamond rings from a jewellery store in Sector 22.

According to the police, Kamal Grover, sales manager, Gitanjali Jewellers, alleged that a couple had arrived at their store on Wednesday.

The duo asked the staff to show diamond rings. In the meantime, the couple stole two diamond rings. The employees at the jewellery store found the rings missing and immediately informed the police.

The police arrived at the spot and securitised the CCTV in which the accused were seen stealing the diamond rings. The accused have been identified as Rajeev Kumar and his wife Sonia, both residents of Amritsar.

The accused had arrived in the city on Valentine’s Day and were staying at a hotel in Burail.

A case against the accused has been registered at the Sector 17 police station and an investigation has been initiated.
