Chandigarh, February 19

Unknown occupants of an Innova vehicle were booked for firing shots in the air outside a house in Sector 15 here yesterday.

As per the police, the complainant, Anand Gupta, a resident of Sector 15, alleged that the miscreants came in a car and rang the bell of his residence twice  and sped away from the spot.

While escaping from the spot, they fired gunshots in the air at around 4.20 am. The complainant then informed the police about the incident. However, the police found no bullet shells from the spot.

The police team have recorded the statements of nine persons in the matter, including two security guards, but they said they had failed to hear any sound of firing.

However, a case under Sections 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25-27-54-59 of the Arms Act was registered at the Sector 11 police station.

The police have seen the car in the CCTV footage but they had failed to get any clue in the case.

Sources said it was a personal dispute between Gupta and another party.
