Cultural programme marks I-Day

PATIALA:The Patiala Media Club organised a cultural programme to mark the 71st Independence Day.

The Patiala Media Club organised a cultural programme to mark the 71st Independence Day. 

The event was organised in association with the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) at the centre’s auditorium. Folk dances of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan were performed by artistes. Singer Sarabjit Kaur mesmerised the audience during the event. Patiala Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kumar Amit was the chief guest.

The DC lauded the efforts of the Patiala Media Club for organising social awareness programmes.

 He said, “The administration has always tried to provide assistance to journalists.”

Sarbjit Singh Bhangu, president of the club, said the club had been actively working for the welfare of the journalists and had always stood up against social evils.

Ravinder Sharma, programme officer of the NZCC, said the freedom was precious and one must not forget the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
