Chandigarh,  June 21

Residents of the Dadu Majra have performed  yoga asanas by wearing masks on the local dumping ground to mark a protest against the authorities concerned over the issue of the shifting of the dumping ground.

The residents adopted a unique  way of protest after they  failed to  get any  solution to the  issues they had been facing due to the dumping ground. The protest was organised under the banner of the joint action committee.

Residents of Sector 38  also joined the  protest. President of the Resident Welfare Association  Kuldeep, Congress  leader  Yadvindra  Mehta, Harjeet  Singh, Jeev Raj  and Sunder were among those who participated in the  protest. They said political leaders visit the area during  elections and promise to solve the issue  but to no avail.

One of the residents  said nobody  could walk or  perform yoga at the dumping ground where stink emanates from the garbage dumps. They said it was  their way to  raise  their   voice  before   the leaders   and the   Municipal  Corporation authorities.
