A day after UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore’s surprise visit to the Plaza, nothing changed in Sector 17 here. Poor sanitary conditions can be easily seen in different areas of the Sector 17 Plaza.
Yesterday, Badnore had paid a surprise visit here to review progress on the project to give a uniform look to Sector 17 buildings. After being greeted with garbage strewn all around — in the parking area, pavements and the Plaza area — the Administrator had told the officials accompanying him, “I can clean the Plaza if your are unable to do it.”
A visit to the Sector 17 Plaza today reveals poor sanitary conditions. As safai karamcharis are on strike, there was no arrangement to lift garbage scattered all over the Plaza. Even the dustbins installed in Sector 17 were overflowing with garbage.
The Sector 17 Plaza is a key area of the Smart City’s plan. Besides, the team for Swachh Survekshan 2017 is also expected to visit the city in the month-end for the survey.
Poonam Chauhan, a visitor to the Plaza, said there was no cleanliness in Sector 17 and it gives bad impression about the city.
