Chandigarh, November 5

The District Congress Committee Urban II organised a Vijay Sankalp Rally here today. Over 700 vehicles participated in the rally, which was led by president Gurpreet Singh Gabi.

Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal flagged off the rally, which stated from Sector 42. After passing through Sectors 43, 44, 45, 20, 19 and 27, it concluded at the Sector 28 ground where senior leaders addressed the participants.

The participants raised slogan against the BJP for its anti-people policies such as GST and demonetisation. A “Modi kala bazaar” was set on vehicles containing different bags full of jumlas.

While speaking on the occasion, Pawan Bansal said the government had failed miserably to manage economy and generate jobs.

CTCC president Pardeep Chhabra said development in Chandigarh had almost come to a halt. Irrational hike in the leasehold system had rendered the scheme baseless. There is a poor implementation of the Street Vendors Act. As many as 5,000 houses prepared by Bansal in Maloya for Colony No. 4 residents have not been allotted yet and the BJP is showing dreams of housing for all till 2022, which will prove to be another ‘jumla’.

Gurpreet Gabi said price hike had crossed all limits and small businessmen were forced to shut their businesses, thanks to flawed GST and demonetisation. — TNS
