Don’t charge extra, PU tells cyber cafes

CHANDIGARH:Taking note of news items which appeared in a section of the media today regarding students being overcharged by cyber cafes for filling forms online at Panjab University, the authorities today issued instructions to the owners not to charge more than the rates prescribed by the university.

Taking note of news items which appeared in a section of the media today regarding students being overcharged by cyber cafes for filling forms online at Panjab University, the authorities today issued instructions to the owners not to charge more than the rates prescribed by the university.

In a verbal communication to the cyber cafe owners, the university authorities warned them that a fine would be imposed in case they failed to comply with the instructions.

PU DUI Dinesh Gupta formed a committee to frame rules for the cyber cafes and the action to be taken against them in case of violations.

The policy will be drafted within a week and after approval it will be implemented in the market on the campus.

PU online admission coordinator Yograj said the officials concerned had been asked to keep a check on the cyber cafes.
