Mohali, July 11

The local police claimed to have cracked the double murder case at Chatt village after the arrest one person here today.

The suspect has been identified as Ashok Kumar Paswan, a native of Shakarvihar village in Samastipur, Bihar.

According to the Mohali SSP, Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the suspect along with acquaintances, including Santosh Kumar (brother), Suraj Kumar and Krissh (nephew) had murdered Ajay Kumar (30) and Fazzludin Khan (55) on July 9. The rest of the suspects were still at large, the SSP said.

Ashok Kumar had suspicion that his wife was having relations with Ajay Kumar, the SSP added.

Giving details, SSP Bhullar said, “A Special Investigating Team (SIT) was constituted to work out the case. We worked on several theories for the purpose. During our investigation we found some vital clues against Ashok and then nabbed him.”

“First the suspect hacked Ajay Kumar to death in his sleep. At the time of incident two dogs started barking at the spot following which Fazalludin, who was sleeping nearby, came to check the spot. Seeing the suspects, he challenged them. Then Krissh hit a brick on his head and killed him. The crime was pre-planned.” SSP added.

“Earlier, Ashok had also cautioned Ajay to stay away from his wife but he didn’t listen,” the SSP said.

According to the police, the rest of the suspect fled to some other state. “We have already dispatched teams to nab them,” the SSP added.
