Patiala, June 8

In order to check mosquito breeding in the city, a team of health officials conducted inspections at various places here on Friday.

District Epidemiologist Gurmanjeet Kaur supervised residential colonies and various government offices in the city.

Inderjit Singh, sanitary inspector, Municipal Corporation, issued eight challans to the residents where dengue larvae were found.

The team visited Baradari Stable, Baba Tobha Singh colony, Gobind Nagar, PRTC workshops, and Government Rajindra Medical College and Hostel. All these areas were sprayed with larvicides and people were made aware of the importance of Friday Dry Day for the prevention of dengue and chikungunya.

Harish Malhotra, Civil Surgeon, said they were trying to make people aware that open utensils, containers or old goods kept in the open could become breeding ground for mosquitoes.

He said no case of dengue was reported from the district so far. He said people must keep their surroundings clean to avoid larva breeding.
