Ropar, February 21

With the arrest of a youth from the nearby Balsanda village, the district police have claimed to solve a one-year-old murder case.

The accused is Dilpreet Singh of Blasanda village. He had allegedly strangulated his friend Pradeep on October 19, 2016, while having drugs.

Purshottam Kumar, father of deceased Pradeep, had lodged a complaint with the police on December 14, 2016, stating that his son had gone with Dilpreet on October 19 and had not returned since then. He told the police that Dilpreet had told them that Pradeep had gone with some truck driver.

As Purshuttom had apprehended that Dilpreet had abducted his son with the intention to kill him, the police had registered a case under Section 364 of IPC.

The case could not be solved then. Now, the police started reinvestigating the case and interrogated Dilpreet who confessed his crime.

Dilpreet told the police that on the fateful day, he and Pradeep were taking drugs on the stairs of a canal near Balsanda village. The latter demanded a large chunk of the drug, which led to a quarrel between them and he ended up strangulating Pradeep, revealed Dilpreet during his interrogation.
