This year, candidates appearing for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will not get three options to choose an examination centre. Rather, they will have to opt for only one centre. This has created unrest among aspirants. Moreover, the examination centre will be allotted on the first come, first serve basis. The registration for the same opened today.

The candidates can apply online from February 15 till March 15. The exam will be conducted on May 29 and the tentative date for declaration of result is June 14. There will be an open counselling on September 27 after three counseling sessions. There are 72 seats in AIIMS, Delhi, while 100 seats each in six other AIIMS.

Notably, the online system started last year and Chandigarh was not given a centre for examination last year as well.

One of the aspirants Rahul Gupta said Panchkula residents would have to opt for either Ambala or Mohali as there was no examination centre in Chandigarh.

Another candidate Shivani Das said the candidate shall get options for three centres instead of one.

Meanwhile, Arwind Goyal, an academician and well-renowned PMT Trainer of the city, said the candidates shall make their photo, digital signatures and the thumb impression ready as the details regarding whether the photo had to be uploaded with signatures or with thumb impression was not clear.
