Government College, Dera Bassi, organised its 34th annual convocation function on its premises, here today.
Balbir Singh Sidhu, MLA, Mohali, presided over the function as chief guest and Deepinder Singh Dhillon, General Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, was the guest of honour.
A total number of 260 students received the degrees. The chief guest felicitated the special awardees during the ceremony.
Anshula Rana of B Com III, who received the Roll of Honor, is a university topper in the commerce stream. She is a gold-medalist of Punjabi University, Patiala, in the commerce stream.
While addressing the students, the chief guest stressed on the need of improving knowledge. The Chief Guest, Balbir Singh Sidhu, on this occasion also released the 2016-17 edition of the college magazine-'Vidya Pardeep'. Meanwhile, Dera Bassi MLA NK Sharma said no invitation to him smacked of bias.—OC
