Punjab Govt to collaborate with Indian School of Business

MOHALI: The Punjab Government has decided to collaborate with the Indian School of Business (ISB) for the effective implementation of citizen-centric policies and programmes in the core sector of health, education, agriculture, besides promoting skill development programmes.

The Punjab Government has decided to collaborate with the Indian School of Business (ISB) for the effective implementation of citizen-centric policies and programmes in the core sector of health, education, agriculture, besides promoting skill development programmes.

The decision was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with faculty members of the ISB and senior officers of the state government held at the ISB Campus here this evening.

Badal asked ISB experts to come forward to chalk out schemes for improvement in agricultural scenario, farmers’ welfare and skill development in the state.

Badal asked ISB Dean Dr Ajit Rangnekar to suggest a framework for collaboration in various fields of mutual interest, aiming at improvement in quality of life of the people in general and especially the ‘poorest of poor’ in the state.

He also sought the help of the ISB in improving the agriculture scenario by formulating schemes, including crop insurance scheme for the farmers, their (ISB experts) suggestions for effective implementation of agriculture diversification and guidance for the promotion of skill development programmes.

“You should chalk out short and mid-term skill training programmes for unemployed youth as per the local needs of the industry,” Badal told to ISB experts, emphasising the need to initiate skill development programme for school students studying from Class IX onwards.

Badal said the ISB should also evolve special training modules for IAS and PCS officers to enhance their capabilities in running the administration effectively.

Badal deputed senior IAS officer Anirudh Tiwari as nodal officer to coordinate with the ISB on the behalf of the Punjab Government to carry forward the programmes aimed at ensuring the overall development and welfare of the community at the local and state level.

Other officials present at the occasion were Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary (Industries & Commerce) Anirudh Tiwari and Mohali Deputy Commissioner TPS Sidhu.
